Press Release for Councilman Henry's 4th District Meeting -- Saturday, February 1
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COUNCILMAN BILL HENRY
TO HOST PANEL DISCUSSION ON LIQUOR ISSUES IN BALTIMORE CITY
January
30, 2014 – On Saturday, February 1, Baltimore City Councilman Bill Henry
(D-4th) will host a panel of experts to discuss issues relating to liquor
establishments in Baltimore City. “Between the new zoning code’s proposed
reduction in density of liquor outlets and the problems at the Liquor Board
revealed through a recent audit by the state, there is much to discuss about
how liquor establishments impact our communities and how we can work together
to address current problems and avoid future ones,” said Henry.
The
panel will be comprised of representatives from Citizens’ Planning and Housing
Association (CPHA), the Community Law Center, The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg
School of Public Health, the City of Baltimore, and the York Road community.
Each panelist will present on the work being done by their respective
organizations, followed by a question and answer session.
The
event will take place at Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle School, 840 E. 43rd
Street, Baltimore, MD. Refreshments will be provided. The program will begin at
10 a.m. and conclude at noon.
This
continues Councilman Henry’s practice of holding quarterly district-wide
meetings on various subjects decided on by his Community Advisory Commission, a
group of community and business leaders from around the district. Recent topics
have included an information session on the Affordable Care Act, an overview of
TransForm Baltimore -- the City’s rewrite of its zoning code, and a
conversation with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake about Change to Grow, her 10
year financial plan for Baltimore City.
