You are cordially invited to attend the NECO (Northeast Community Organization) 2011 NECO COMMUNITY CONGRESS, “Northeast Excellence” on Saturday, June 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the STUDENT CENTER at Morgan State University, 1700 East Cold Spring Lane.

The NECO Community Congress is NECO’s Annual Meeting. Its purpose is to conduct the business of the organization, including the election of officers, the adoption of the budget, and the setting of priorities and events for the coming year. We need your presence to help conduct this important work for our community.

The NECO Community Congress will also review the activities undertaken by NECO to strengthen our communities in the past year and highlight the progress we have made on a comprehensive planning document, “Northeast Excellence.” There will be displays of various neighborhoods throughout the northeast and community updates. Elected officials and representatives of NECO’s partners Morgan State University, Good Samaritan Hospital and NEDA (Northeast Development Alliance) are expected to attend.

NECO, one of the oldest umbrella community associations in the City, unites neighborhoods within the NECO area; addresses concerns and needs to the City and State governments, provides a forum for public discourse and education, and serves as a resource to member organizations. The NECO area is defined by the following boundaries: City/County line to the north, York Road to the west; Perring Parkway to the east, and 33rd Street to the south.
