Big Truck Day in Baltimore is THIS SATURDAY, May 12
at the Baltimore Museum of Industry
Big Fire Engines, Big Police Cars, Big Dump Trucks, and a really BIG Fire Boat
Nothing says “I Love you
Mommy” better than a tiny tyke trucker all tuckered-out after Big Truck Day!
Start off your Mother’s Day weekend by bringing your little ones to this
fantastic once-a-year wonderland. This FREE event will be held Saturday,
May 12, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on the parking lot of the
Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway.
Kids and adults of all
ages will enjoy this opportunity to see, touch and sit in some of the biggest
vehicles in the City’s fleet. Those on display will include “Big Bertha”
the City’s largest Tow Truck along with Fire Engines and Trucks, Police
Cars and Motorcycles, Rescue Vehicles and a REALLY, REALLY BIG Fireboat –
shooting up massive plumes of water. Nearly 20 vehicles and
equipment will be on-show for our citizens that day.
Not only that, kids
will get to interact with real Police Officers, Firefighters, Sanitation
Workers and Big Truck Drivers. They will learn about the latest
technology and hear all about what our dedicated public servants do day to day and
also those special tasks where lives are saved, how roads are fixed, how
recycling is collected and how one day they too can join the ranks of these
talented men and women.
Parents will be able
to have kid safety id’s made including photo and fingerprinting by CBS
radio. They will also provide music and prizes from the “Friends and
Neighbors Van.” The Waterfront Partnership will be on-hand with fun
activities and information on its new “Waterfront Kids” initiative. In
addition, this year there will be not one, but two balloon twisters from the
One-Step Magic Company. Things to do in the Big Truck Day Activity
Pavilion, include coloring big trucks and making them with Lego’s, getting
a fun Big Truck Day tattoo, or testing your running speed on the Speed Sentry
radar unit. Youngsters will also receive a construction hat or a safety
vest, while supplies last. Food will available for purchase from the
Baltimore Police Explorers and food truck vendors from the Maryland Mobile
Vendors Association that will include Cupcake Runners, Kooper’s Chowhound,
Chicken-n-Waffles, and Miss Twist ice cream.
BRING YOUR CAMERA to
preserve this memory-making event.
For additional
enjoyment, the Baltimore Museum of Industry is offering special admission
