BGE Working to Improve Electric Reliability
In 2011, the Maryland
Electric Service Quality and Reliability Act was signed into law by Governor
Martin O’Malley. This law required the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC)
to implement new regulations governing the way utilities in Maryland – including Baltimore Gas and
Electric Company (BGE) - manage electric reliability.
Known as Rule Making 43
(RM 43), these regulations affect the way BGE trims and removes trees and
impacts all jurisdictions served by BGE including Baltimore City .
BGE is or will be working in Baltimore
City neighborhoods
throughout the remainder of 2012 and over the next several years to implement
the new standards. As always, customers whose property is impacted by the work
will be notified by BGE in advance. BGE is also working very closely with the
City throughout this process and appreciates the cooperation of the citizens of
Baltimore .
