Please Consider Helping a Family in Need

A few residents and business owners in the 4th district suffered a loss on the morning of September 30, when a fire spread through four row houses on the 4600 block of York Road. The York Road Partnership has appealed to the greater community for donations of clothes, bedding, or funds to be made to the family of Michelle Shelton who, along with her three children, was displaced from her home due to the fire.

Our district office at 5225 York Road is happy to serve as a drop-off location for donations to make collection and distribution easier. Our office hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday (with the exception of Monday, October 14, when our office will be closed for the Columbus Day holiday). Please feel free to call us with any questions (410) 396-4830, and see the YRP’s appeal below for more information on how to give.

Hello YRP Community,

Early Monday morning (Sept 30th) a fire at 4670 York Road displaced Michelle Shelton and her 3 children.  Although all 4 escaped without injury, there was extensive smoke and fire damage to their 3 bedrooms.   Unfortunately, Michelle Shelton had no renter’s insurance.

They are in need of immediate financial assistance while they search for a new place to rent (Emergency services provided a voucher for 2 days shelter).  Items such as beds, bedding and clothing will need to be replaced.  We are reaching out to the larger York Road Community for assistance in the form of financial or material goods to aid the family during this challenging time.

You can remit financial support online thru the York Road Partnership by going to www.GreaterHomewood.org, look for the Donation by Paypal button.  Under “Purpose” please specify “Michelle Shelton c/o York Road Partnership
