"Lessons Learned from the June Derecho": Your Testimony Needed!
Resolution 12-0064R, "LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE JUNE DERECHO," will be heard before the Housing &
Community Development Committee of the Baltimore City Council on Wednesday, September 19 at 5:00 pm in City Council
Chambers, 4th floor, City Hall. Also to be aired live on cable channel 25.
We need
“veterans” from our own derecho experiences to attend and testify as to
specific BGE practices that require improvement to ensure that, in future storms
and outages, BGE will be better prepared to respond efficiently to consumer
concerns. The more specific the
better. This is not a “gripe session.”
It’s our chance to improve BGE’s emergency response system for the future.
Neighbors have long suffered periodic outages,
even without apparent cause, and expressed the urgent need for BGE to address
and upgrade their specific power networks.
This hearing is the opportunity to request BGE to meet with specific
neighborhoods to analyze pockets of “weakness” in local networks and undertake
appropriate upgrades ASAP.
If you can attend and testify, please bring picture ID for admission to City Hall. If you
cannot, please email your specific BGE requests to
Bill.Henry@baltimorecity.gov. SUBJECT
LINE: DERECHO HEARING, so we can present them to BGE and the Public Service
Commission (PSC) representatives.
