Last Chance to Register for the Homestead Tax Credit!

If you own the home you live in, then you've probably already been receiving this tax credit automatically -it's what keeps the amount of property tax that you pay from going up more than 4% in a given year, regardless of how much your assessment has changed.  

To continue to be eligible for the credit though, there is a one-time application that must be filed by next Monday, December 31st, or you will likely see a big increase in your tax bill in 2013.   

Now, there have been opportunities to apply for several years, so if you want to see if you've already applied, follow these instructions:

• First, click here.
• Enter your house number and street name. (DO NOT put in "Avenue" or "Street" or anything after the street name. Do not enter “east” or “west” before the street name either; if east/west/north/south applies, both properties will come up – just choose yours.)  Your home information will then show.  
• Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to see if the Homestead application has been approved.  

If you see “No Application,” you must submit an application by December 31st - click here to fill out the application.  After you fill out the application, print it out and mail it, making sure it is postmarked by December 31st.  Mail the completed application to:
